Irene Joan Banas [nee Napierowski]

Irene Joan Banas [nee Napierowski], age 91, was called to her eternal home after a long illness. Irene was born in the families Kaisertown home on February 2, 1933, the daughter of the late Raymond and Irene A. [nee Lewandowski]. She and Paul raised their family in that home for many decades than moved to the Cheektowaga area. She married Paul Banas on May 10, 1955, and together they had two children: James and Catherine. She worked for many years as a clerk for Marine Midland Bank and later HSBC. She loved gardening and tending to her rose gardens and arranging the flowers she grew to present to family, friends and neighbors. She was an extraordinary homemaker and loved baking and making all kinds of jams. In her later years Irene spent hours doing crossword puzzles and reading. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, and her warm and inviting smile. She loved her children and her family above all things. Cherishing her legacy is her son James and his wife Sheila Banas of IL, and her daughter Catherine [the late Ronald] Cummings of GA. Adored grandmother of three; Peter [Monica] Cummings, Lauren [Kevin] Reynolds and Edward [Lucy] Banas; great grandmother of four and great - great grandmother of three. Irene was the big sister of the late Frank [late Virginia] Napierowski and the late Gene [survived by Helen] Napierowski of Kaisertown. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews survive. The love of her life and very best friend - her husband Paul, passed away in 1995. Family and friends will be invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to take place in the Church of St. Casimir at a date and time to be announced.
